strange thoughts

Year in review-ish. Bye, 2008!

Yesterday, I couldn't stay awake past 7pm. D: what's up with that? I was kinda expecting to crash pretty hard this weekend, but dude. I fell asleep up here around 6?ish went downstairs to go to bed at 7 and slept til 9 this morning. eep!

I must say though that I really need my sleep. I've been working on things lately until midnight or later and then waking up at 7/8am ish to go to work and that's not conducive to a Jane people want to be around. :( :( After a week or so of less than 8 hours sleep a night, my skin stops healing, little cuts get infected immediately, I break out by merely looking at dust and my hair goes all oddly lank. My eating habits go off kilter due to my stomach hurting. I lose a lot of creativity and I get *really* irritable. (I've been fighting the urge to stab people's eyes out this past week for stupid shit, which should have tipped me off that I need a big sleep.)

I live as rich a life in my dream time as I do in my awake time, really. So it doesn't bother me that I need a lot of sleep. And really 8 hours a night is plenty, it's just that when I've been getting between 3-5 hours, I start going loopy and sick. meh.

I can also say that I have no problems with insomnia. :P My personal definition doesn't go beyond "omg I have to finish this project, have to beat this game, have to finish this book, am obsessed with posting to this forum and I WILL STAY AWAKE DAMNNIT!! zzzzzzzzz..." I'm more of a Sleep Fighter than an unSleep Victim. :P and usually sleep will vanquish me no matter what I want, so meh. (finishing a project and staying up for 36 hours straight also does occasionally happen, but that is more of a creative obsession/sleep dep paranoia than actual insomnia as I'm not trying to go to sleep and failing. I'm just batshit insane and obsessed about something. :P)

Anywhoo, I think it's amazing how everything heals over night when I get a good sleep! (and am properly hydrated, lol!) It's awesome! This whole body conscious maintenance thing is kinda freaky when you really start examining it. eek!

So, things I've learned about myself in 2008:

- I need 8 hours sleep to be healthy
- I need to drink 2+ liters of water a day to stay hydrated
- If I don't eat stuff that makes my stomach hurt, my stomach doesn't hurt
- Exercise is a great way to work stuff out in my head
- I love riding my bike ^_^
- I love cooking real food! and I really hate processed food! (revelation!)
- Quality is *so* much better than quantity
- Taking the time to think things out and not make immediate decisions is the best thing ever
- Stress makes me sick
- Bringing snacks with me and packing a lunch is essential to a non-grumpy Jane
- No decorations makes me depressed
- I need equally balanced yay big groups party! People!Time and absolutely alone for days Jane!Time
- Breakfast is vital and necessary
- Balance is AWESOME. One would think that this is Obvious, but sometimes I'm a little slow.

There. That's as close to a year in review as I'm gonna get. :P

ETA: YES!! YES WE CAN HAZ! ^___^ and I approve. (especially after seeing the new promo pics! whoo! also, Benjamin Button much? o_O;)
