Weekend photos from Two Tree Gallery

Here are pics from this weekend! ^___^ I had a lot of fun at the opening. Julie Woodward, the owner was lovely to meet and set up everything and was generally awesome. ^__^ and [info]reader222 was a godsend and fabulous travelpartner. ^__^ Whoot!

And!! The art is fabulous!! Seriously, if y'all are in the Jacksonville, IL area from now until August 7, totally go and check it out!! ^_____^

Here's the window. The dolls are by Oddolls.net I *loved* their teeths! :D and they're huge!

Massive amount of Pics! omg. )

This is Fox. I finished him up while Betsy drove me from Rockford. I AM IN LOVE. which means I ended up taking more pics of him than of anything else. >_>; oops.

+7 )

And this is Mer! Who I also finished along the way. He and Fox are bestest buds, man. ^___^

+1 )

Also!! There are the elusive Skellieones. :D Three of them! This guy's name is Skellieone - Black. Descriptive, I know. The other two are Skellieones - Grey and Green. (I was kinda running out of time! D: I don't know what I would have done if Betsy hadn't written out a zillion tags for me! D: D:)

Skellieones - Black, Grey and Green! )

The show is up until August 7 and there'll be another Gallery Hop then that I will be attending. ^_^ (and then taking my stuff home afterward.) If anyone from around my area wants to come with me then, I'd love the company! And you get to see awesome dolls! whoot! ^___^

****

In car news, I called the mechanic this afternoon and he said that the new alternator he put in was toasted and he replaced that and tested it and it's all running and stuff. :/ I hope he's right as I have now spent more money on repairs than I have at the moment. :((

I'll be arranging for a ride out there this weekend when I head back to Rockford for Warren and Betsy's vow renewal and picnic. (Which is going to be Awesome!) Hopefully DoomCar will make it back to Madison in one piece. :/

****

Anywhoo, that's the news for the time being. ^_^ I've got other things in the wings, but this post is long enough and it's almost 4am. D: (and I've got stuff to do this morning! ergh.)

D - Not a Happy Camper

Am Home. Am Exhausted. Still No Car.

I got home this evening and then went and made art with Artist!Cathy. It was lovely, but I am *so* very tired.

The opening went well, I thought. Betsy drove me and the art there and then drove me to pick up my car. (4-5 hours each way. D:) I managed to drive about 7 miles before the same thing happened again and my car died. :/

I called the cool old towtruck guy again (who greeted me with "So, we meet again!" LOL) and he towed my car back to the shop in Wenona, IL and I went to Rockford where Eric picked me up and drove me home to Madison. OMg so much driving!

THANK YOU!! to Eric and Warren and Especially Betsy for saving me.

I can hardly see straight right now and I think I'm going to sleep for a while now. Sleep is good and posting more is for tomorrow. (and yes, there is more. O____O;; )

D - Cookies!

Quick Post

I'm in Rockford, IL atm. I was trying to get to Jacksonville, IL, but my car broke down on the highway at almost exactly halfway there. :/

I get to stop by and see what it's going to cost me tomorrow. Hopefully it's just the alternator and I'll be able to afford getting it fixed to the point that I can drive it home. :/ It was SUPER SCARY, though to be trucking along at 70mph with an SUV on my ass when my dials all went POSSESSED BY ALIENS!! and crazy all over the place and my accelerator refused to work. D: D: I was SO HAPPY I was past the ginormo bridge before that happened. :( :( I ended up stopped on the median in the middle of farmland nowhere (right outside Wenona, IL? That's where my car is now.) and Warren & Betsy were home and drove an hour to come rescue me. (and then drove an hour back! D: D: I owe them SO MUCH NOW.)

And then they gave me dinner and a place to stay tonight. And! Betsy is going to drive with me to deliver the art to the gallery and we're going to stay for the opening and drive back in the morning. SO MUCH ♥! That's a 4 hour each way drive that she doesn't have to do and... and... *clings*

I feel truly lucky to have such awesome people in my life.

I called Mim and Eric too and they played google-fu to get me the numbers of a tow truck and the hotel I had a reservation at so I could cancel tonight and not get charged for it and stuff.

Also, I need to send a thank you to the state trooper who sat with me for an hour and a half while I waited for everything to work out and was rather generous about my surprise suspended registration. ._____. stupid parking tickets. I fail so hard there. :/ so yeah, I'll be visiting again in a month. :/ But he didn't have to stick around either, so I feel very grateful to him for that.

And! the tow place that Eric found for me is a little ornry old guy in overalls with a cheek full of chaw and a Kentucky accent and he was AWESOME. He only charged me $60 to tow my car to a place nearby and was really nice. He said I was lucky as almost all the tow places around there were closed for the weekend and that the place he towed me to would treat me right. I really hope so.

Also (kinda cryptic like) Stacie and Cathy? I owe you so much (you have *no* idea, man) for the help before I left. OMG. You fabulously saved me with that today and I'll totally give you more details when I get back home. O_O

And? for all the fail that today has had, I have some wonderful people in my life and I'm glad. Also, Pan kept me company to whole way and I promised to fix his arm if he stuck around, so I best get on that. ;)

I called Julie from the gallery and she'll be expecting me tomorrow, so tomorrow *better* go better. just saying and all. ^^v

Right now I just want to get some sleep and hope hope I get all the stuff I need to get done on time in the morning. :/ *crosses fingers*

Me - Oh Noes!

Good Morning!

So yay! I made it to Minicon. ^_^ I got my creatures set up in the art show yesterday and now I am filling out bidsheets and waiting for the consuite to open. :P

and stuff.

I am a horrible morning type person. *sigh* I had to make myself lie in bed for an extra hour to justify getting up and disturbing my roommates at 7am.

Also, there are a *ton* of dogs here. it's... strange. (and by tone I mean 10 or 15. That's a ton for a hotel!)

Back to bidsheets. OOH! consuite is open! :P

Wiscon 33 Call For Artists!

Dear Artist,

We invite you to participate in the WisCon Art Show.

As you know, WisCon is the pre-eminent feminist science fiction convention in the world. We believe that Art is an important aspect of SF, and that an exciting Art Show is an important part of any convention. We strive to make the WisCon Art Show a continuing success by integrating the art show with the rest of the convention.

Art show focus:

Work by women artists
Work by regional artists
Work with feminist themes, whatever that may be

We don't plan to define feminist themes. That's up to you. We do, though, plan to continue to have popular awards for the Most Feminist and Most Outrageous items in the Art Show, as have for the past several years. We are interested in original work by the artist, which may include 1 copy of limited edition reproductions. For additional print sales, you are welcome to participate in the WisCon Dealers Room, or make an arrangement with one of the dealers. We also have a small print shop for items with fixed sale prices; let us know if you are interested in participating, since space will be limited.

Please complete an application at www.wiscon.info/artshow.php now. Artists must have completed the application process and have received an acceptance notice in order to enter art into the Art Show.

We are doing things a little different this year. In order to include more new artists, we are requiring all artists to submit an application and photos of their work to the Art Show Staff by January 31 of this year. We will start sorting through the applications then and notify the applicants of their status by February 15.

Completed applications must be submitted by January 31. On about February 15 we will notify accepted artists and about May 1, we will send forms, check-in and shipping information, and other details.

If you attend, you will need to purchase a WisCon membership. Please register at the website or mail in your registration form if you plan on attending. Note that there is a $20 refund available if you volunteer and work 6 or more hours on the convention (ideally, in the Art Show) or participate in programming. Program information is available at www.wiscon.info. If you are interested in participating, you should go to the site and sign up.

While we are not charging for space, we do need to know in advance how much you will need. Our standard hangings are 4' square pegboard. Artists new to the convention may reserve up to 2 4x4’ panels; for continuing artists, the maximum is 3 panels. It may be possible to get more space, but only at the discretion of the art show director based on the space available. Last year, we filled up, so more than 3 panels is unlikely. Table space is available as well, up to a full 6' x 36" table. Please include your space needs when you apply for entrance into the Art Show.

Convention members will have the opportunity to vote on the Art Show awards again this year. WisCon 33's Art Show will continue to focus on feminist art, art by women, and art by Midwestern artists. For art show information please check the box on the registration form, email artshow33@wiscon.info or visit the WisCon web site.

You can write the art show at the WisCon address. We can also be reached at artshow33@wiscon.info. I would be happy to answer your questions.

Sincerely,
Jane Washburn

In other news, I'm feeling very much better now. ^_^ Yay for zinc&elderberry lozenges, sleep and lots of tea! ^_^ and anime. anime is comfort food. whut. I definitely won't be running any marathons, but I shoveled the walk this evening and watched [info]suibhne_geilt fix my storm windows this afternoon. (He Is Made Of Awesome! It's sooooo waaaaaarm now! ^_^) yey.

WisCon!

Going good. Am ungodly tired. I've sold 3 pieces so far and am very happy that they are going to fabulous homes! (and can justify buying my new camera! whee!)

The Art Show is running fantastically smooth and everything is really worth all the work that goes into it. *whew*

I actually managed to make a couple panels today! and go to lunch! and Dinner! O__O; dudes, this never happens!

Anywhoo, I'm gonna go check out the fabulous parties, say hi to people who said to check out their parties. (:P :P) and then find my boy and go home to sleep.

We don't open until 10 tomorrow, so I think I'm going to get here early and do the stuff I should be finishing up tonight. (like counting Art Show Awards and printing out certificated. oops. *blush*)

I think I can feel my brain dribbling out my ears.

OddCon and stuff...

The art show at OddCon this year did really well! There was only one artist that didn't sell at least one piece. (and it wasn't me. ~_^) J.J. did a fabulous job and was superfun to hang with. ^__^

Thank you everyone who stopped by and said hi! ^__^ It was lovely to see you all. I was way tired and trying not to nod off near the end of things. (and repeating myself constantly and I'm sure listening with half an ear to most everything that was going on the closer to tear down I got. *is still very tired* bleah.) But I had fun anyway! Next year though? I'm taking the weekend off from work. I need my sleep way too much. *dies*

I've got about 25 armatures made now. I'm tempted to make a Zombie Hunter Skeleton Army out of them and film them marching across the livingroom floor. It would be glorious! or not. maybe. (GLORIOUS!)

I owe everyone so many emails and things and packages and coffee and money and phone calls and my first born and all that and I promise I'm trying my best to catch up! omg so behind! so much to do! *cries*

***

ummmmm... News what's been going on and stuff:

* [info]sleepingzebras found a new apartment that he is happy with and is in the process of moving in. Which leaves me without a roommate, but that should be solved by [info]mimory moving up here in June. She'll be staying with me for a few months until things work out for her. and stuff. ^__^ And in the meantime, I'm redecorating and hanging (and framing) the loose bits of art I've got floating around in large piles here. ^__^ whoot!

* The diner just had a big internal shift around. Jen Gaber is now the chef and is doing a fabulous job!! Y'all Madison people should stop in and try her lunch specials. They are made of awesome. yus.

* I'm going to be registering Eric's old car soon and will be selling my current car if anyone wants to buy a supercheap fixerup car type thing. otherwise, I'm putting an ad in and selling her that way. ^^;

* to whom it may concern: I will be hosting Quilting 4/24! I give you weeks of notice! go me! :P

* I haven't been around all that much due to my avoiding the Internet Time Suck and it's been working a bit. If anyone needs to get a hold of me, give me a call. (and if you don't have my number already, leave a comment here and I'll give it to you. ^__^) amazingly enough, I've been doing Much better on the actually talking to people on the phone front. and stuff...

MOOMINS!! they will politely eat your soul. )

I am super tired and really need to go nap for a bit before heading off to work. Thank goodness that Mondays are my Fridays and I have two days off after I come home today. YAY!
